According to the Code of Federal Regulations, an adverse drug experience is defined as any reaction that may be associated with the use of the drug: Any adverse event associated with the use of a drug in humans, whether or not considered drug related, including the following: An adverse event occurring in the course of the use of a drug product in professional practice; an adverse event occurring from drug overdose whether accidental or intentional; an adverse event occurring from drug abuse; an adverse event occurring from drug withdrawal; and any failure of expected pharmacological action. CroFab® - Crotalidae Polyvalent Immune Fab (Ovine) is a blood/serum-derived product. CroFab® is not a recombinant product, it is a polyclonal antibody fragment product derived from the whole blood of sheep. All antivenoms are produced in this manner as it is nearly impossible to make a recombinant antivenom since venom is comprised of hundreds of antigens. If your religion prevents you from being treated with anything derived from the blood of animals, you would not be able to receive any antivenoms.
